You do not need an account to make a receipt here. There is no sign-up, no login, and no watermark on the PDF, so the receipt your customer gets carries only your details. It is free for one receipt or for hundreds.
The payment method is a free-text field, so you can describe exactly how the money arrived: cash, bank transfer, EFT, card, cheque, or mobile money. Add a reference in the notes, such as the transfer reference or the last digits of the card, so the receipt matches the bank statement.

For a bank transfer, set the payment method to bank transfer and add the transfer reference, so the payer can match the receipt to their bank statement.
This is a receipt you issue as the person or business that received the money. It confirms you were paid. It is not a bank's transfer confirmation. If you're the one who paid and need proof, download it from your banking app or ask the seller for a receipt.
A receipt matters most for cash, because there is no bank record to fall back on. Enter the customer as the payer, type "Cash" as the payment method, and add the amount received. Describe the deposit as its own line item, such as "Deposit for kitchen installation", and use the notes to say what the balance is and when it is due. Add the invoice or quotation number if you have one.
Each receipt gets a unique receipt number, the date paid, your business details and the payer's, a description of what was paid for, the amount, and the payment method. Add the invoice number if the payment relates to one. Here is a finished example for an invoice paid by bank transfer.

The tax section has a name field and a rate field, so a receipt can show VAT, GST, HST, or sales tax under whatever name your country uses. Enter the percentage and the tax is shown in the totals. If the payment is not taxable, leave the rate at zero.
